Part 2) DOING agile
Building on the foundation of last weeks post on BEING agile we now step into DOING agile:
CoCreating the funding scheme “Digital Health – the digital patient journey” led me to joining the #Pharma Industry, taking on the role of “Patient Journey Partner” (01/2022).
✨ Becoming a part of part of a #selforganized, #crossfunctional team – a squad – allowed me to gain further experience with DOING agile.
✨ Demonstrating #agilevalues and #agileprinciples, i.e. walking the talk. Which leads us to the #agileframework – including the #agilepractices (e.g. reviews, retrospectives) as well as the #agilemethods (e.g. Scrum, OKR).
But first and foremost it leads us to the necessity to make a conscious decision: Am I willing to walk the talk?
Before answering this question with a “quick & dirty” YES, let me draw your attention to the fact that BEING & DOING agile is a continuous (LEARNING) JOURNEY rather than a project (with a clear starting and end point).
Therefore, I would like to conclude my take-aways from the “ICAgile Certified Professional” training in 07/2023 ...
... with the learning principle & the 3 stages of #ShuHaRi:
🙌 Stage 1: SHU – follow the rules & internalize the 4 #agile values and the 12 #agileprinciples
🙌 Stage 2: HA – break the rules & apply being as well as doing agile to your individual circumstances
🙌 Stage 3: RI – develop your own rules & train others
from BEING agile to DOING agile | SHU HA RI
When organizations implement “agile ways of working” they either go to the HA-stage too fast, deciding for example that daily stand-ups are not necessary and a waste of time and thus, are skipped. Or they do some other sort of “cherry picking” when it comes to BEING & DOING agile, i.e. they choose to only implement what they like best – not even understanding all of it fully.
As I am currently transferring from one (agile) role as well as from one company with agile ways of working to another, I will happily apply the 3 stages of ShuHaRi to my (agile) LEARNING JOURNEY… keeping an #agilemindset as well as a #growthmindset ✨🚀🤩
Speaking about a #learningcurve.
Care to share your take-aways regarding LEARNING AGILE – from BEING to DOING agile?
I’d love to hear from you.
